Magistrate Judge Thomas M. DiGirolamo was born in 1956 in Plainfield, New Jersey. He entered Rutgers University in New Brunswick, New Jersey, in 1974, majoring in economics. While at Rutgers, Judge DiGirolamo was a member of Omicron Delta Epsilon, the economics honor society. Following graduation from Rutgers in 1978, Judge DiGirolamo attended the Dickinson School of Law in Carlisle, Pennsylvania, where he received his J.D. in 1981.

Following law school, Judge DiGirolamo was the Judicial Clerk for the Circuit Court for Washington County, Maryland. From 1983 through 1988, he was an assistant state’s attorney in Washington County, Maryland. During his tenure as an assistant state’s attorney, Judge DiGirolamo was specially assigned to the Washington County Narcotics Task Force. From 1988 through 2004, Judge DiGirolamo was engaged in the private practice of law in Hagerstown, Maryland. Immediately prior to his appointment as a full-time United States Magistrate Judge, Judge DiGirolamo was a partner with the law firm of Schlossberg & DiGirolamo. On September 18, 1998, Judge DiGirolamo was appointed as a part-time United States Magistrate Judge of the United States District Court for the District of Maryland. Judge DiGirolamo was appointed as a full-time United States Magistrate Judge on June 30, 2004.

Judge DiGirolamo was admitted to the United States District Court for the District of Maryland in 1988 and the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals in 1990. He is a member of the Maryland State Bar Association, the Washington County Bar Association, and the Federal Magistrate Judges’ Association.
