Magistrate Judge C. Bruce Anderson was born in 1953 in Baltimore, Maryland. He entered Western Maryland College in Westminster, Maryland in 1971 and majored in political science. Following a career in business and sales, Judge Anderson attended Widener University School of Law ultimately transferring to the University of Baltimore School of Law and receiving his JD, cum laude, in 1992.

Upon graduation from law school, Judge Anderson served as a law clerk for the Maryland Circuit Court judges in Wicomico County. Later, Judge Anderson worked primarily as a criminal defense litigator and divorce attorney for Robert B. Fine and Webster & Webster, P.A. in Salisbury, Maryland. In 1998, Judge Anderson became a sole practitioner focusing his practice on criminal defense in state and federal court. In March, 2012, Judge Anderson was appointed and sworn in as the part-time United States Magistrate Judge for the District Court for the District of Maryland.

Judge Anderson was admitted to the Maryland Bar and the U.S. District Court for the District of Maryland Bar in 1992. Judge Anderson is a member of the Maryland State Bar Association and the Wicomico County Bar Association. Until his appointment as U.S. Magistrate Judge, he was a member of the National Association for Criminal Defense Lawyers and the Maryland Criminal Defense Attorneys’ Association.
