Effective November 1, 2012, several changes will occur concerning presentence reports. First, the final report will be filed in CM/ECF by the Probation Office, and will be available only to court users, the U.S. Attorney, and to counsel for the particular defendant involved. Counsel will no longer receive a paper copy from the Probation Office. Second, the final report that counsel receives will include the Probation Officer’s recommendation. The court has amended its local rule to permit this change. In addition, the names of any co‐defendants will be listed on the face sheet. Third, the Probation Office will be sending counsel the draft report (and any pre‐plea report) via e mail, and not in hard copy.
We hope these changes will result in a more efficient process.
