For the past seven years, Judge Jillyn K. Schulze has served as chief magistrate judge for the United States District Court for the District of Maryland. She has handled the administrative chores in Greenbelt while Judge Paul W. Grimm has handled them in Baltimore. Pursuant to the local rules, Judge Schulze's term as chief magistrate judge ended on May 5, 2006.
The Court has decided to keep this smooth running team in place, doing what it has done so effectively for so long. Judge Schulze and Judge Grimm will continue to handle the administrative duties in the southern and northern districts, respectively. The chief magistrate judgeship, however, will pass from Judge Schulze to Judge Grimm.
The Court congratulates Judge Schulze and Chief Judge Grimm for a job well done and thanks them for their future service.
