Nextgen - Updating PACER Account

Attorneys who have their own individual PACER account issued prior to August 11, 2014 must take the following steps to update their PACER account and link their CM/ECF account to it. Shared PACER accounts can no longer be used in NextGen.

Updating a PACER Account

  • Please visit the following link www.pacer.gov
  • Login with your current PACER username and password
  • Next to “Account type”, select the “Upgrade” link
  • Update/enter all contact and security information
    • Afterwards, select “Next” and “Submit”
  • Select “Individual” as user type in the “Person” tab
  • Select “Update Complete” button

Linking CM/ECF Account to PACER

  • Please visit the following link www.pacer.gov
  • Login with your current PACER username and password
  • Choose the District of Maryland court
    • Note: Do NOT request "Attorney Admissions/E-File Registration" through "Manage Pacer Account."  This is not for users who already have CM/ECF credentials in the District of Maryland.
  • Select “Utilities” from the Menu bar
  • Locate “Your Account”
  • Select the option “Link a CM/ECF account to my PACER account”
  • Enter your CM/ECF login and password
  • Click “Submit”
