Public Notice for the Reappointment of Magistrate Judge

The United States District Court for the District of Maryland proposes to reappoint a United States Magistrate Judge.

The term of the full-time United States Magistrate Judge position in Baltimore, currently occupied by Magistrate Judge Beth P. Gesner, is due to expire on May 4, 2015. The Court proposes to reappoint the Honorable Beth P. Gesner for an additional eight-year term.
 
Magistrate Judge Gesner performs those duties authorized full-time Magistrate Judges, including the conduct of preliminary proceedings in criminal cases; the trial and disposition of misdemeanors and infraction cases; the conduct of settlement conferences; and trial and disposition of civil cases with the consent of the parties.
 
Magistrate Judge Gesner hears cases in Baltimore, Maryland and at several off-site locations throughout the State of Maryland.

The United States District Court for the District of Maryland will establish a selection panel to consider the reappointment of the incumbent.

Comments from members of the bar and the public are invited as to whether the incumbent Magistrate Judge should be recommended by the panel for reappointment by the Court and should be directed to:
