Judge Aslan graduated from Brown University with a B.A. magna cum laude in an independent concentration focused on the Americas.  During high school and college she studied abroad in Mexico, Brazil, and the Dominican Republic.

Judge Aslan received her J.D. magna cum laude from the New York University School of Law, where she was a Root-Tilden-Kern scholar, a Florence Allen scholar, and a member of the Order of the Coif.  Upon graduation from law school, Judge Aslan served as a law clerk to the late Honorable Harold Baer, Jr. of the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York.

Following her clerkship, Judge Aslan joined the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) through the Attorney General’s Honors Program.  During her career with DOJ, Judge Aslan served in the Criminal Division, the Civil Rights Division, the Office of Legal Policy, and the Office of the Inspector General.  Among other things, Judge Aslan investigated and prosecuted public corruption and civil rights offenses and represented the United States in civil rights appellate cases.

Judge Aslan was sworn in as a Magistrate Judge on December 4, 2023.
