The United States District Court proposes to reappoint a United States Magistrate Judge.
The term of the part-time United States Magistrate Judge position at Salisbury, currently occupied by Magistrate Judge Victor H. Laws, III is due to expire on March 21, 2008. The Court proposes to reappoint the Honorable Victor H. Laws, III for an additional fouryear term.
Magistrate Judge Laws performs those duties authorized part-time Magistrate Judges, including the conduct of preliminary proceedings in criminal cases and the trial and disposition of misdemeanors and infraction cases.
Magistrate Judge Laws hears cases in Salisbury, Maryland. He has primary responsibility for Assateague National Park (including portions located in the Eastern District of Virginia), Somerset, Wicomico and Worcester Counties.
The United States District Court for the District of Maryland will establish a selection panel to consider the reappointment of the incumbent.
