Public Notice for the Reappointment of Magistrate Judges

The United States District Court for the District of Maryland proposes to reappoint two United States Magistrate Judges.

The term of the full-time United States Magistrate Judge position in Greenbelt, currently occupied by Magistrate Judge Thomas M. DiGirolamo, is due to expire on June 29, 2020.   The Court proposes to reappoint the Honorable Thomas M. DiGirolamo for an additional eight-year term.

The term of the full-time United States Magistrate Judge position in Greenbelt, currently occupied by Magistrate Judge Timothy J. Sullivan is due to expire on December 19, 2020.   The Court proposes to reappoint the Honorable Timothy J. Sullivan for an additional eight-year term.

Magistrate Judges DiGirolamo and Sullivan perform those duties authorized to full-time Magistrate Judges, including the conduct of preliminary proceedings in criminal cases; the trial and disposition of misdemeanors and infraction cases; the conduct of settlement conferences; and trial and disposition of civil cases with the consent of the parties.

Both Magistrate Judges hear cases in Greenbelt, Maryland and at several off-site locations throughout the State of Maryland.

The United States District Court for the District of Maryland will establish a selection panel to consider the reappointment of the incumbent.

Comments from members of the bar and the public are invited as to whether the incumbent Magistrate Judges should be recommended by the panel for reappointment by the Court and should be directed to:
