The U.S. District Court for the District of Maryland has increased expert compensation rates in Criminal Justice Act cases as follows:
| Expert Type | New Hourly Rate |
| Investigator | $75.00 |
| Certified Paralegal | $65.00 |
| Mitigation Specialist | $85.00 |
| Law Clerk | $25.00 |
| Psychologist/Psychiatrist | $275.00 |
The new rates went into effect on October 19, 2016, and apply to services incurred on or after October 19, 2016. A listing of all expert compensation rates is available on the court’s website at http://www.mdd.uscourts.gov/criminal-justice-act-panel.
