Tenth Biennial Bench-Bar Conference of the U.S. District Court for the District of Maryland

The Judges of the United States District Court for the District of Maryland, in conjunction with the Maryland Chapter of the Federal Bar Association, invite you to the Tenth Biennial Bench-Bar Conference on October 20, 2017, in the Southern Division Courthouse, 6500 Cherrywood Lane, Greenbelt, MD.   The Bench-Bar Conference is your premier opportunity to hear from and talk with the members of the Court and to learn what is happening in the fast changing sphere of educating the next generation of lawyers.
The keynote speakers will be Donald Tobin, Dean of the University of Maryland Francis King Carey School of Law, and Ron Weich, Dean of the University of Baltimore School of Law who will discuss and take questions about what is new and coming in law school programs.  Several of the newest Judges of the Court will hold a panel discussion to provide practice pointers.  Small group breakout sessions will give you the opportunity to talk directly with Judges of the Court on such subjects as civil discovery challenges, trial issues such as jury selection and instructions, mediation, criminal scheduling and sentencing issues, and managing pro se consumer bankruptcies, among other topics.
Finally, the Honorable James K. Bredar will deliver the State of the Court address and the conference will close with an always enjoyable reception.  Registration begins at 1:30 p.m. and the program will commence promptly at 2 p.m., and the reception will conclude at 7 p.m.
