District Court is Open During Partial Government Shutdown

Monday, February 2, 2026

Through at least February 4, 2026, the United States District Court for the District of Maryland will continue normal operations notwithstanding the partial government shutdown beginning on January 31, 2026. This includes all aspects of court operations including docketing new cases, document filing, resolving motions, settlement conferences, hearings, trials, and deciding cases.  Unless otherwise ordered in a specific case, all civil and criminal cases will proceed in normal course and no deadlines are subject to a stay. Further guidance will be issued if the partial shutdown of the federal government continues beyond February 4, 2026.
